The Key – the service for school leaders

The Key – the service for school leaders

The Key is an independent service that supports school leaders by providing practical, expertly researched answers to their questions on all aspects of school leadership and management. It enables them to work autonomously while still being part of a wider professional community.

Schools subscribe to the service individually or through their local authorities. Membership allows everyone within a school’s senior leadership team to ask unlimited questions and read more than 2,000 articles on our website that have been researched by us in direct response to questions from other school leaders.

The Key’s team is made up of expert researchers, many of whom have worked in schools and the education sector. They draw on a wide range of sources to collate no-nonsense responses that can be put to use quickly. All new questions are answered within three working days.

In a survey of more than 1,000 members of the service, it was found that a school leader saves:

  • Five hours, on average, each time he or she asks The Key a new question
  • 3.5 hours, on average, each time he or she uses information already on The Key website
